New play features Vashon

Rich with dogs and scenes of Vashon, Drama Dock’s new production called “The Reinvention of Albert Paugh” will open at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and run through Sunday at the Kay White Hall.

Adapted from Jean Davies Okimoto’s novel by the same name, the romantic comedy, directed by Chaim Rosemarin, tells the story of Dr. Albert Paugh, who is flunking retirement. After selling his Vashon veterinary practice, he soon finds himself not only lost without his work, but suddenly single. His regrets pile up.

Paugh’s reinvention begins when he moves to Baker’s Beach and gets to know a special neighbor, learning that friends and dogs are the family one chooses.

The play is an affirmation of renewal and hope laced with humor, plus a few other Vashon surprises.
