Folk band to rock the Bike

The Seattle folk rock band 41 Miles will play a free show at the Red Bike from 8:30 to 11 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21. One reviewer compared the duo to a modern- day Gram Parsons and Emmy Lou Harris.

Islander performs solo ukulele at Cafe Luna

Island musician Glenn Rukwid will perform a solo ukulele show at 7 p.m. Friday Jan. 21, at Café Luna. Rukwid will be joined by a few special guests.

Waterlogged brings its new sound to the Bike

Waterlogged will play a free show at the Red Bike at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22. Formerly Watermark, band members Roger Taylor and Kevin Almeida recently added Pat Reardon and Gibb Dammann to the vibrant mix.

A celebrated pianist plays

Grammy-nominated pianist and Seattle native David Lanz will come to Vashon for a CD-release concert for his latest album “Liverpool,” which pays homage to The Beatles in a jazzy, improvisational style. Lanz will be joined by flutist Gary Stroutos for the concert, slated for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Blue Heron. Tickets, $15/$18, are on sale at Blue Heron, Heron’s Nest, Books by the Way and www.brownpapertickets.com. The concert will include complimentary champagne.

Heijra comes to Luna

The global rhythms band Hejira will perform at Café Luna at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22. Hejira is a musical hybrid combining ancient world styles and global rhythms with modern instrumentation.

UMO benefit returns to The Hardware Store
