Seattle ukulele trio strum at VCA

The Blue Janes, a high-energy Seattle ukulele trio made up of three women’s voices and three ukuleles, will play a show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kay White Hall.

Veterans of Seattle’s folk, folk-pop and singer-songwriter communities, the trio sings sweet, melodic original and cover tunes: a few from the traditional Americana repertoire and some funny and raucous numbers.

The group is made up of three musicians — Arni Adler, Kathleen Tracy and Jean Mann. Adler is a former member of Uncle Bonsai; Tracy has released five recordings and creates music for theater and dance, and Mann is a folk singer-songwriter who performs on acoustic guitar and harmonica, as well as ukulele.

The Blue Janes came together three years ago in the Mount Baker neighborhood during Seafair and have recently recorded the group’s first CD.

Tickets are $18 for Vashon Center for the Arts members and students, $20 for seniors and $22 for general audience, and are sold at vashoncenterforthearts.org, Heron’s Nest and VCA.
