Sleeping Beauty performed at VCA

A new dance dimension will help awaken the slumbering princess in VCA Center for Dance’s production of “Sleeping Beauty” opening on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Kay White Hall.

Modern, tap and hip hop will accompany the traditional ballet under the direction of Vadne Domeika.

“I chose Sleeping Beauty because it has a lot of roles, allowing me to give dancing opportunities to all our students, regardless of level or style of dance,” Domeika said.

Princess Aurora or Sleeping Beauty will be danced by senior Julianna Wright. The Lilac Fairy will be danced by senior Selah Bellscheidt; the evil Carobosse by Grace Derrer; the prince by Duncan Barlow; and the fairies by Emma Rose DeSantis, Talia Roybal, Marisa McTighe, Kelsey Morrison and Wright.

The show will run through the weekend, with performances at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, and 1 p.m. on Sunday. An open dress rehearsal will be available for public viewing at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
