Vashon Chamber Music will open its new season with the presentation of the Vashon Beethoven Quartet Project at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Havurat building.

The series will feature the Girsky String Quartet — Seattle Symphony violinists Artur Girsky, Natasha Bazhanov and Julie Whitton and Vashon cellist Rowena Hammil — performing all fifteen of the composer’s master works in chronological order and lecture-recital format. The quartet was formed in 2012 to perform for Vashon Chamber Music and, since then, has played many Vashon concerts and other regional series. Sunday’s performance will include the String Quartet Op.18 No.1 by Beethoven, along with Mozart’s Quartet Op. 387.

The project is slated to continue over several years, with the six Op.18 quartets being performed in the 2015-16 season.

Admission is $20 at the door. Those 18 and under are free.
