Vashon Allied Arts (VAA) will present a lecture with internationally recognized glass artist Preston Singletary as part of its Arts & Humanities series at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Vashon High School theater.

For nearly two decades, Singletary has created a body of work that is now in the collections of the National Museum of the American Indian, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and The Seattle Art Museum. A master of the Europeanglassblowing technique, the Seattle artist also learned his craft from local and Italian glass artist legends.

His work is sculpted in luminous glass, using the visual vocabulary and narratives traditionally associated with Native woodcarving. He incorporates and interprets the rich cultural images, myths, legends and spirituality of hisTlingit ancestry and blends it with the dynamism of the Northwest Studio Glass Movement and modern art.

Tickets are available at vashonalliedarts.org and the Blue Heron.
