Two day music festival features 26 on and off island performers

For the third year, the Chautauqua Music Festival promises a weekend of camping, food and music with a stellar line-up of performers from 5:30 p.m. to midnight Friday, Aug. 4, and 1:30 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Vashon Eagles Aerie 3144.

Musicians will include island notables, such as Ian Moore, Pete Droge, Kat Eggleston, John Browne, Colin Loch and more plus Seattle musicians Chris Ballew, Grizzled Mighty, Iska Dhaaf, Acapulco Lips and others.

Last year, 650 people attended the festival designed to raise vital funds for Vashon’s elementary and middle school music programs.

“(It is) all to help schools make sure every young, promising musician has the ability to thrive in the highest levels of their art,” organizer Mike Dumovich said in a statement.

All proceeds will be given to Chautauqua Elementary School and McMurray Middle School to set up scholarships to help pay for extra-curricular trips and events, as well as an instrument library that children who cannot afford their own instruments can access.

Tickets are $20 per day or $35 for both days and sold at brownpapertickets.com and Vashon Bookshop.
