Watch a book come to life

Vashon Center for the Arts’ Family Series will present Book-It Theatre’s production of “Last Stop on Market Street” at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Katherine L White Hall.

The book, from which the play was adapted, won the Newberry and tells the story of a young boy, CJ, who doesn’t understand why he and his grandmother have to take the bus after church and not drive a car like everyone else. The grandmother answers CJ’s questions about what he doesn’t have with all that he does have. CJ learns to see the beauty around him and appreciate the things he has.

The show will be performed bilingually in Spanish and English, and is suitable for children in grades K-5.

Tickets are sold at VCA, Heron’s Nest and VashonCenterfortheArts.org
