Auction supports Vashon Wilderness Program

The auction aims to raise $30,000 for a broad expansion of Vashon Wilderness Programs.

“Heartwood,” an online auction to benefit Vashon Wilderness Program (VWP), will take place from March 11 to 21, offering items including adventures, experiences, art, food, new outdoor gear, self-care essentials and more.

The auction aims to raise $30,000 for a broad expansion of VWP programs, including new partnerships and collaborations with local public schools and Vashon Kids, and will also support the nonprofit’s ongoing efforts to build a robust scholarship program.

The auction also offers ways to support VWP through its “Grow a Forest/Grow a Child” project — a multigenerational collaboration between Vashon Wilderness Program and Vashon-Maury Island Land Trust to plant trees and invest in healthy habitats for our collective future.

Another auction item, the “Sit Spot Challenge,” will support a child or VWP mentor to spend more time in nature cultivating a quiet mind, observant eye, and a deep capacity to listen to the natural world.

Yet another offering will be a downloadable mp3 that will give the buyer a “guided sense exploration” in nature by VWP mentor Jane Valencia.
