Glacier, POI talk to council

The Vashon-Maury Island Community Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov.19, at the McMurray Middle School multi-purpose room. Both Glacier Northwest and Preserve Our Islands will be presenting.

The council also expects Islander Sharon Nelson to make a brief presentation discussing her new job as a member of the state House of Representatives.

In expectation of a large crowd, the council moved the meeting from Courthouse Square to McMurray.

Voice of Vashon, which typically broadcasts the meetings on Comcast channel 21, cannot broadcast this meeting live because of the change of venue, but it will broadcast the meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26.

WSF increases holiday service

Washington State Ferries (WSF) will add extra service on several routes this Thanksgiving holiday. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Nov. 21, 22 and 23, on the Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth run, the Issaquah will operate as the late vessel to assist evening travelers, according to a WSF press release.

The route will operate on a regular weekday schedule on Thanksgiving Day and the day after, with extra service added in the middle of the day both days.

On the Point Defiance/Tahlequah route, there will be a holiday sailing schedule on Thanksgiving Day, providing an additional afternoon run.
