Dine with Eagles

The Vashon Eagles will host Thanksgiving dinner from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 24. The dinner is free and open to the public and will include turkey, sides, and dessert. All are invited to attend and bring a dish to share.

Seating will be available indoors and outside, and contactless pick-up is also available. Volunteers are needed, so stop by the club during open hours after 2 p.m. to sign up!

‘Brown Briefly’ Reunion Show

Tune in to Voice of Vashon 101.9FM (or stream from voiceofvashon.org at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, when both former and current hosts, including Susan McCabe, Lynn Carrigan, Gayle Kellner, Michael Shook, Truman O’Brien, Bruce Haulman, Craig Beles, Kevin Jones and, perhaps, a special surprise guest, will share their wisdom and mirth about the events of the day.

Open enrollment for 2023 Affordable Care Act health insurance is underway through Jan. 15.

Get in-person assistance, at Vashon Library, from King County representative Miguel Urquiza, from 12 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3; 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21; and 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7.

The sessions are also a chance to sign up for Metro’s reduced fare program and food stamps.

Community Council

The Vashon-Maury Community Council (V-MCC) is meeting in person and on Zoom this month, at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, at Vashon High School lunchroom and online at Zoom. Visit v-mcc.org for more info and to register for the Zoom link.

Speakers will be John Taylor of King County, Major Mark Konoske from the Sheriff’s Office, and John Vezina from Washington State Ferries.

Plastics and Styro Recycling

Islanders can bring styrofoam and plastic waste to the next “First (& Third) Sunday Styrofoam and Plastics Recycling Event,” to take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at the Sheffield Building, 18850 103rd ave SW.

Jingle Bash

Jingle Bash, a holiday event featuring 50 local art, craft, and specialty food vendors, live music, hot meals, and Santa Claus, will be held from 12 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at Vashon High School.

Aeggy’s and Iyad’s Syrian Grill will serve hot food, C’mon Barber will offer haircuts.

Photographer Sarah Bunch will take photos with Santa Claus from 1-4 p.m.

The day’s music lineup includes Kevin Moe on classical guitar from 12:30-1:30 p.m; The Old Dockton Blues Band from 2-3 p.m.; and William Rodriguez, with Colombian folk, from 3:30-4 p.m.
