The most recent development in a story the world is not forgetting any time soon is that island dog Tillie is in the running for World Dog of the Year.

Tillie is up against five other pooches and their owners, all hoping to come home with the title. She and owner B.J. Duft will travel to Los Angeles Saturday for the World Dog awards hosted by George Lopez. The winner in each category, ranging from Dog of the Year to Best Dressed and Top TV dogs, will be chosen by popular vote.

Votes can be made online at www.cwtv. com/world-dog-awards/. Each entry has an accompanying video explaining why the dog should win. Tillie’s competition includes The Today Show’s dog, Wrangler; Iditarod champions Hero and Reef; a wounded veteran’s service dog, Gabe; and menswear model dog Bodhi.

The awards show will air on Jan. 14 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
