A 20-year-old island man was arrested on Vashon on Thursday, Oct. 6, and booked into the King County Jail for investigation of second degree assault.

Sgt. Cindi West, the spokesperson for the King County Sheriff’s Office, said deputies responded to a report of domestic violence just after 9:30 p.m. in the 14400 block of Westside Hwy SW. A 63-year-old woman had gone to a neighbor’s house and reported that her son had stabbed her. The woman had lacerations to her head, neck and arm but was conscious and alert, West said. Vashon Island Fire & Rescue emergency personnel transported her to Harborview Medical Center. Although her injuries were serious, she will survive, West said.

Deputies located the son later at a house in the 12600 block of SW 148th Street. West indicated she had no information on what led up to the assault.

Bail was set at $500,000, and as of Monday, the man remained in jail, but charges had not yet been filed. He was expected in court again on Tuesday, after press time.
