A woman was killed in a single-car accident near the north end on Wednesday night.

On Thursday the King County Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as 22-year-old Sierra Marie Perdrin Walsh. She was a 2011 graduate of Vashon High School.

The accident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday on Vashon Highway at 140th Street, according to Sgt. DB Gates, a spokeswoman for the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Sierra was the driver and the sole occupant of the vehicle, and a dog that was in the car was also killed.

Josh Dueweke, a captain at Vashon Island Fire & Rescue, said she was headed southbound on Vashon Highway when she apparently lost control of her vehicle, an SUV, and overcorrected.

The car went into a ditch and was pinned against a tree when responders arrived. Dueweke said the driver died on the scene.

The cause of the accident is not known, but the sheriff’s office is investigating. Its Major Accident Response and Reconstruction responded to the scene, and Vashon Highway was closed for the investigation until about 4 a.m. on Thursday.
