Due to the incredible generosity of the Vashon community, Vashon Partners in Education (PIE) was able to offer a spring grant opportunity this year.
Vashon Island School District (VISD) teachers and staff responded with some fantastic requests. We were able to fund everything on their wish list — our spring 2022 grants totaled $24,659, bringing our total grants for the school year to just under $59,000. We also made one grant of $5,000 to the VHS Spanish Club under our Appleford Enrichment program, and have two more Appleford grant requests to consider this month.
Vashon Partners in Education’s (PIE) goal is to enhance the learning environment in our public schools. We fund activities and materials requested by those closest to the educational process — our teachers. Vashon Island School District teachers, staff, and other community members are encouraged to submit grant proposals identifying specific needs or opportunities not addressed by the existing school budget.
