Scene Heard: Comfort and Joy as a Sanctuary Reopens

All the beautiful quilts on display were blessed and dedicated.

It was a dazzling Sunday of colorful quilts, as the congregation of Vashon Lutheran Church moved back into the church’s sanctuary last week after two and a half years of COVID restrictions followed by much-needed renovations.

All the beautiful quilts on display were blessed and dedicated. The quilts which are now permanently hanging beside the altar were crafted for the church by artist Linda Dunlap. The quilts on pews were made for Fred Hutchinson cancer patients, by the quilt group that meets at Vashon Lutheran every week.

Vashon Lutheran members have also welcomed a new interim pastor, Bishop Emeritus Tom Aitken, and now invite everyone to join them for worship at 10:30 am, every Sunday morning. — Martha Gebhard, member
