Vashon Island Fire & Rescue paramedic and firefighter Andy Johnson was one of five members of Vashon’s fire department to compete in the annual Scott Firefighter Stair Climb at Seattle’s Columbia Center on Sunday. The event raises money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

In full gear, firefighters from around the world climb the tower’s 69 flights. From the Vashon group, Johnson had the fastest time at 15:42. Other Vashon participants included Josh Munger, Matt McCann, Ben Davidson and Adam Joiner. The group raised $9,238 as a team. “That’s a pretty big deal to us, so major thanks go to Vashon,” Johnson said.
