Beatrice Cecilia Hasset Nyberg

Beatrice Cecilia Hassett Nyberg was taken home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday January 6, 2016, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease and other afflictions. Bea was surrounded and supported by her husband Don, daughters Judy (Gregg) Thompson, Diane Allen, Melody (Steve) Snyder, Jan (Steve) Buckley, Kristine Nyberg and Mara (Rob) Martin, 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren (with two more on their way). Bea was born in Healdsburg, CA on December 26, 1930 to Jay V. and Katherine M. (Lester) Hassett. Bea was first married to Walter Brock and they had three daughters: Judy, Diane and Melody. After her divorce from Walter Brock, she married Donald Nyberg in 1959 and they had three more daughters, Jan, Kristine and Mara. In 1965 they moved to Washington State after Don started working for Rocket Research. Don’s friend Charles Green recommended they move to Vashon Island that same year and so the family settled into Island life at Shawnee Beach.

Bea excelled at tennis, loved to play the piano, was a wonderful seamstress and dedicated her life to the teachings of the Lord. Many enjoyable years were spent at Shawnee with family and good friends but it was soon decided that they would be better off retiring to a retirement community so they sold their beloved Vashon home and moved to Redmond, WA. Slowly Parkinson’s started to take over Bea’s everyday functions and she gladly awaited the day the Lord would come to guide her to heaven. Bea and Don celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on December 31st.

A memorial service is being held on Friday, February 5th, at 4 pm at the Canyon Hills Community Church, 22027 17th Ave SE, Bothell, WA 98021. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canyon Hills
