Frank Elton Harris, formerly of Vashon, died at Highline Hospital in Burien on April 18, 2005.

Mr. Harris was born July 15, 1915, in Chelan, Wash. to Oscar P. Harris and Aletha Faubion.

He graduated from Chelan High School in 1934 and attended Eastern Washington College of Education (now Eastern Washington University). He was also a graduate of San Francisco College of Mortuary Science in 1947.

He married June Dynes on June 7, 1936, in Cashmere, Wash.

After he completed his funeral director apprenticeship with an Eastern Washington firm, he came to Western Washington, where he held positions in Chehalis, Bellingham, Longview, Vancouver and Seattle. In 1966 he purchased the funeral business from Garvin Funeral Home on Vashon. He built a new chapel and operated under the name of Island Funeral Service for more than 13 years before his retirement in 1979.

After retiring, he and his wife moved to Des Moines, where they were living when he died.
