Joann Blevins

Joann Blevins, 68, died October 11, 2012 at her home on Vashon. She was born in May 3, 1944 on Vashon where she also attended school. On May 1, 1964 Joann married John M. Blevins at the Burton Community Church. Over the years Joann worked for King County Sheriff’s Department, Pay N Save, and Sears. She lived for many years in West Seattle before returning to the Island. Joann is survived by three sons, John, Jeff and Joe, two daughters-in-law, Lorie and Kelly, and three grandchildren, Sarah, Kyle and Kevin, a sister, Laura Mae Wojciechowski, a brother, Lee Smith and extended family who were all very special to her. She was a loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews and had special relationships with each of them. Joann will be remembered for her eternal selflessness. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor and heartwarming laugh. Joann enjoyed travel, camping and trips to the casino. She was a generous, giving, caring soul who made everyone feel special with her words of encouragement and her unconditional love. Joann was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Blevins, a sister, Betty Plancich and a brother, Greg Smith.

A celebration of life will be held for her on Vashon at the Vashon Sportsmen’s Club on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at 1 pm. Memorial donations are suggested to the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
