Judith Shride Kavadas

Judith Shride Kavadas died in her sleep on Dec. 31, 2003, at Frank Tobey Jones Retirement Estates in Tacoma, Wash.

She was born in 1922 in Lewiston, Mont., to Claude Leslie and Ruth (Rasmussen) Shride and moved to Vashon in 1924 with her family.

She was briefly married to Paul Kavadas in the early 1950s. She graduated from the University of Washington in 1951, and she taught elementary school in the Renton area until her retirement.

Survivors include her sister-in-law Stella Shride, two nieces Barbara Lowenbach of Greeley, Colo., and Claudia Race of Aurora, Ill., one nephew, David Shride of Kennesaw, Ga., and two great nieces and three great nephews and their families as well as multiple cousins in Washington including Dick and Bonnie Shride of Vashon.

Her parents and brother Andrew Fletcher Shride preceded her in death.

No service is planned at this time. Gifts in her memory should be made to the memorial of the giver’s choice.
