Leslie Crawford

Leslie G. Crawford, born in Sydney, N.Y., to Carrie and Harold Crawford on Nov. 3, 1928, died suddenly at his Vashon Island home on Feb. 1, 2010. He was 81.

Crawford moved from New York to Edmonds, Wash., in 1950, where he met and later married Molly Eisenman. The couple has one daughter, Catherine.

He was employed with Shoreline and Northshore school districts for 30 years. Several years ago, he moved in with his daughter Cathy, and they shared a home on Vashon overlooking Quartermaster Harbor. Crawford cultivated a vegetable garden and raised farm animals.

He is survived by his only grandson, Nathan Crawford and his wife, Kristi, of Renton, Wash. Other survivors include several brothers and sisters in New York.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. April 3, at the house Crawford shared with his daughter on Vashon, at 22515 100th Place S.W. Final interment of ashes will be in the family plot in New York.
