Mary E. Knight (Taylor)

Our beautiful Mary E. Taylor Knight slipped away peacefully on Saturday, November 30th 2013, with her loving husband Jim of 62 years by her side. Mary was the first born of 10 wonderful children to Ernest and Denise Taylor of Grass Range, Montana. She was born December 25th 1930. Mary is survived by her loving husband Jim, eldest son Earle (Robin), daughter Valarie (Harold), son Greg (Teri), and daughter Susan (Ken), 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter, along with many other dear family members and friends.

Mary graduated from Issaquah High School in 1950. She married Jim Knight in 1951, living in Seattle and eventually moving to Vashon Island to enjoy the country life, and raise their children for the next 19 years. While on Vashon, Mary was seriously involved within the community and dedicated herself to young people; she was extensively involved in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and volunteering her time throughout the PTA programs. After the kids were older, she worked for the Vashon School District as a fabulous cook. Along with these duties, she and Jim were avid square dancers, and organizers within the square dance community. Living in Kent for the past 35 years, Mary was known throughout the state for her work for Square Dancing Clubs, on CPS and State councils, as well as the National Conventions. She worked in real-estate for many years, and enjoyed reading, cooking, knitting, sewing, camping, and especially her family and many friends.

A loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, sister in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother; her inner light shines bright with her love for all. Our hearts are heavy; our loving memories are forever. Mary’s loving heart and loving smile, along with her twinkling eyes will remain in our hearts for evermore.
