Olga C. Kellogg

Olga C. Kellogg (Schwartzman), born October 9, 1919, in Golden Valley, N.D., died quietly in her sleep on Aug. 23, 2008, in Olympia.

She lived in Beulah, N.D., before moving to Vashon Island in 1945, where she lived in Paradise Valley before moving to Olympia in 2004. She loved gardening, crocheting, her chickens and her family.

Kellogg is preceded in death by her two brothers, Albert Schwartzman of Sacramento, Calif., and Richard Schwartzman of Vashon, and two sisters, Linda Miller of Vashon and Ida Betz of Glenwood Springs, Colo.

She is survived by her three children, Duane (Janice) Sailer of Olympia, Luana Sailer (Alan Bauer) of Olympia and Douglas Newman of Vashon; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Kellogg is also survived by three sisters: Freida Tschaekofske of Hazen, N.D., Anna Weil of Hazen, N.D. and Martha Collett of Port Orchard, as well as numerous neices and nephews.

She will be missed by all.

Kellogg’s graveside ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Vashon Cemetery. A reception will follow. Contributions in Kellogg’s memory may be made to Hospice/Providence Sound Home Care, 3432 South Bay Rd. N.E., Olympia WA, 98506.
