Pat Fitzpatrick

Pat Fitzpatrick 86, was born on Vashon Island December 1, 1928, living her entire life on the North End. She passed away September 1, 2015 at home with family and friends.

She was amazingly kind, steadfast and resolute. Cherished for the loving person and friend she was to many with her sense of humor and cheerful manner known by those whose hearts she touched.

She grew up during the great depression, endured the struggle of World War II, then continued on to flourish over the rest of her life, a tribute to her strength.

Pat was caring, compassionate and kind. She gave years of volunteer service to Granny’s Attic, the Senior Center and Red Hat Society, following a thirty year career as a window clerk at the Vashon Post Office. She was a supporter of the Vashon-Maury Island Heritage Association from its start in 1975.

She had a special love for our native birds enjoying their busy life daily. She also loved observing the weather, flowers, seeing the sunset, making the most of every day, and appreciating life.

She never took life for granted, commenting often how fortunate and thankful she was. Above all, Pat was devoted to her family and friends. She was always available, and loved them deeply. She was a woman of strong conviction, believing in the power and strength of love and the beauty and peace that it holds. She put the needs of others before her own.

She and her husband Walt Fitzpatrick, traveled often to their favorite place Alaska, and to adventures in Montana, California and the Southwest. Also to Hawaii, England, Ireland, Norway, and twice to Australia and New Zealand, a highlight in their travel years. An avid reader, she loved to learn about people, places, and the beauty of nature.

Pat and Walt’s wonderful friends with whom they enjoyed, sharing, laughter and fun. Always active at home and away, they frequently visited others, sharing precious time together. Good friends are found and treasured; they were always in good company.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walt. She is survived by her son Reed Fitzpatrick of Vashon; a son Paul of Spokane, and many Nieces, Nephews.

A celebration of her life will be shared later, with the date and location to be announced.
