Richard Baker

Following a valiant battle with a previously undiagnosed incurable lung disease, Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, compounded by MRSA Pneumonia, Dick passed away with his wife and children at his side on December 23rd, 2015.

Dick’s love and passion for his family will not be matched. He leaves behind his wife Julie, daughter, Michelle, sons, Christopher and Eddie (Miesha), as well as his mother Dee, brothers Todd Baker, Scott Baker (Melissa), Bryan Baker & sister Judy Buchanan as well as numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Dick also leaves behind many other family members and friends who know how much they were loved by such a magnetic man, as the Baker’s house was always open to all.

Born to Eleanor “Dee” Arnold and Richard Baker Sr., Dick was raised on Vashon Island and settled in West Seattle. He was an active member of the community, volunteering with his sons’ Scout troops, coaching his children in baseball, basketball, umpiring, and an all around positive role model who unselfishly gave his time to help others succeed in life’s pursuits. Dick was an avid outdoorsman who loved to boat, fish, and crab at every possible

moment and was a beloved member of The West Seattle Yacht Club.

Dick will be truly missed but never forgotten. There will be a celebration of life held this spring in West Seattle. In lieu of flowers, any desire to donate can be sent to Pulmonary Fibrosis research.
