Walter L. Holmes

Walter L. Holmes

July 27, 1929- May 27, 2011

Walt was born in Seattle to Amy and Chester Holmes. He graduated from Garfield High School, attended Seattle Pacific College, and made a career as a salesman for MacPherson Leather Company.

Walt served in the U.S. Army, 1953-1956, and those were the only two years that he didn’t reside in King County. After basic training, he spent the rest of his enlistment in Japan. Because he was a very talented athlete, he was assigned to play basketball and baseball for the army during his enlistment.

He lived in Seattle until retiring from MacPherson’s, after which he moved to his home on Vashon Island, his paradise. He spent many of his most enjoyable years on Vashon.  Walt is survived by two brothers, Don (Sue) and Bob (Melissa) Holmes, and several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all those who knew him.

A life celebration for Walt will be held

on June 25 at Faith Community Church,

10220 238th St. SW, Edmonds from 1–4 p.m.
