Gratitude from the Vashon Schools Foundation

So much of the rich educational experience is funded by your contributions to the foundation.

2023 has breezed by, as all years seem to do, and we are looking back on all that has happened.

The Vashon Schools Foundation held our annual election of officers, and we are so grateful that we will have a strong team of volunteers at the helm in 2024: Jordan Karr, president; Sunny Knight, vice president; Jennifer Dempsey, secretary; and Craig Klinkam, treasurer.

Thank you, leadership team, for your willingness to serve our community, students, and schools.

Do you care deeply about excellence in education and our schools? If the answer is yes, please consider joining the board of the Vashon Schools Foundation.

This school year, the Schools Foundation is in part funding preventative programs that provide tools and support for student social and emotional health, such as Teen Council, Journeymen, and counseling through Vashon Youth and Family Services.

Creative and cultural opportunities are offered through the Schools Foundation’s contribution of funds to Vashon Artists in Schools and for the Chautauqua Spanish intern program.

Programs focused on science and nature, such as Vashon Nature Center’s Citizen Science program, and the Chautauqua Garden, also receive funding.

So much of the rich educational experience, which allows our students to thrive, is funded by your contributions to the Vashon Schools Foundation. Thank you, Vashon!

As 2023 comes to a close, please consider the Schools Foundation in your giving plans. The Vashon Schools Foundation was founded on the belief that a strong school district makes a strong community with well-equipped, empowered youth.
