LETTER: Island event helped my state of mind, given recent political climate

On Jan. 15, I attended an All Island Forum at the Vashon Library. It was organized by Mary Shackelford, John Runyon and Karen Nelson. It was titled ‘Responding to the Maelstrom’, giving the Vashon community a chance to gather and brainstorm coping with the Trump administration. Never before has an election so impacted my psyche. Having attended this forum I feel I am in a better state of mind to face the negative onslaught of what will face our country. Gathering with like-minded community was a comfort, as well as an inspiring base for the next forum entitled ‘Change, Choice and Opportunity’ Part 2 which will be held Thursday, Feb. 23, at the library from 6:30-8:30 p.m. I encourage everyone able, to attend.
