LETTER: Thank you to Brian Brown

I’m writing to thank Brian Brown for saying such kind words about Take a Senior to Lunch Day on the 28th of each month (“Take a senior to lunch day: Senior citizen seeking younger lunch date with credit card,” Feb. 22).

I’ve been trying to get the idea off the ground since I was invited to Ober Park to watch a Shakespeare play. As I sat on that bench on that lovely Vashon summer night enjoying the picnic lunch brought by friends, I wondered how many other seniors were there. So I started Take a Senior to Lunch Day, and Melinda at The Hardware Store Restaurant suggested the 28th of the month and the idea was born.

Thank you, Melinda and Brian. Also, Brian, I would like to meet you sometime. My mother told me a long time ago to “go slow with nice men,” but I think I’m of the age now that I can handle it. Also, thanks to the generous ladies who called for the names of seniors looking for a lunch date. I can provide a list of names to those willing to take a senior to lunch. Just call me at 707-4696.
