If you read her commentary in last week’s Beachcomber, you know that she is a passionate advocate for the center’s mission to “create a sense of community that enhances the experience of being an older adult.” (Senior center needs help in midst of cuts,” Dec. 2.)

Drop by if you want to witness folks actively engaged in everything from tai chi to bridge; join them for lunch featuring locally grown produce (thanks in part to VIGA’s Food Access Partnership, of which I’m a member), or sign up for one of the many outings. You never know when your grandparent, parent or friend might benefit from the camaraderie and services found there. King County United Way sliced the budget by more than 25 percent. It’s up to us to restore that significant slice of the pie. If we don’t, that warm and welcoming spot might not be there when we need it most.
