Dozens of Islanders travel to compete in Spokane’s Hoopfest

It’s summer — the butterflies and birds have migrated north — and the Vashon basketball community has migrated east for what has become a major event in the annual calendar: Spokane Hoopfest. This year was the 21st Hoopfest, and again saw a record number of players (26,000) and teams (6,700). Twenty-one Island teams competed, and all enjoyed the relatively cool weather compared with previous years.
