On Tuesday, April 27, the Vashon High School boys’ lacrosse club traveled to Bainbridge Island for the team’s only game this past week.

Led by senior Austin Franks, Vashon’s defense kept the game close through the first two quarters, with Bainbridge leading 5-1 at half.

Vashon’s inconsistency and failure to scoop up ground balls resulted in Bainbridge pulling away in the second half for a 15-3 win.

Despite the loss, there were several notable performances and indications that Vashon’s future is bright.

Senior goaltender Cullan Paridon made 11 Herculean saves in the third quarter alone.

Half of Vashon’s starters are freshman and sophomores. Sophomore Konnar Fall scored two of Vashon’s goals and continues to become a better lacrosse player in every phase of his game.

The same can be said of sophomore defender Kevin Thomas, who led the team in ground balls.

Just as importantly, freshman Robert Easton is becoming proficient and unrelenting on face-offs.

Vashon returns home for a 7 p.m. game tonight, Wednesday, May 5, against defending state champion Issaquah. Then the team travels to Seattle Prep on Friday, May 7.
