Pirates represent Vashon in all-star fashion

The 2010 high school senior all-star feeder games were played June 1 at Henry Foss High School. Forty-three high school seniors from three leagues were invited to participate in the doubleheader, which featured the Narrows League 3A schools against the Nisqually League 1A/2A schools. Joe Gilmour and Wes Paulsen represented the Vashon Pirates.

The 2010 high school senior all-star feeder games were played June 1 at Henry Foss High School. Forty-three high school seniors from three leagues were invited to participate in the doubleheader, which featured the Narrows League 3A schools against the Nisqually League 1A/2A schools. Joe Gilmour and Wes Paulsen represented the Vashon Pirates.

In the first game, Gilmour played three innings at second base and had a hit and a walk in two at bats. In the nightcap, he played the entire game in left field and came away with two walks and an infield hit in four trips to the plate. He also scored twice.

Paulsen played two innings in right field in the initial game and grounded out in one plate appearance. In the second game, he pitched five innings, allowing only one hit, one run and a base on balls while striking out seven batters. Offensively, Paulsen added a base hit, an RBI and one stolen base.

After the game, 10 players were chosen for nomination to play in the Washington State Senior All-State Game in Yakima on June 12 and 13. One of the three players selected from the Nisqually 1A league was Vashon’s Wes Paulsen. Games will be played on Parker Field at Yakima Valley Community College.
