Vashon’s varsity boys soccer players came away with their second win of the season on Saturday against Coupeville High School.

The long, winless drought that Vashon had been experiencing was quickly washed away by a rain of goals, as the Pirates won the match 10-0.

From defenders to strikers, most Pirate players had a shot on target. Notable goals were two scored off headers from corner kick set pieces. The first one, which opened up the scoring for the Pirates, came off the head of central defender Luis Castellon. Noteworthy goals were also made by Bohdin Mozeleski and Sam Foucault, who both put in a great two-goal game effort.

The Vashon defense is to be credited with solid defending, good communication and clearing the ball out of the back with intent. Passing and connecting between players was precise as the Pirates controlled the game very well. Movement on and off the ball was done fluidly and at times it appeared that the Pirates were dancing around the Wolves.

The Pirates hope to carry this momentum as they head into Nisqually League games. Their next match is this Friday, a home game against Bellevue Christian scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
