Persistence, endurance and hard work are some of the attributes it takes to win a lacrosse state championship.
On Saturday, May 28, the high school Vashon Vultures boys’ lacrosse team came up one final step short of completing the repeat of their 2019 title, after losing to the Orting Cardinals at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila.
Nine of the seniors who are about to graduate were on that 2019 team, and now understand what a special feeling it is to both win and to a lose a final game of the season.
However, the coaches, parents, students, and indeed the entire Vulture team knew their vast accomplishments in this 2022 season were something to be cherished. It is with that pride that the Vashon Vultures walked off the lacrosse field last Saturday’s drizzly night with smiles on their faces, appreciation for their fans, and a bond for each other that they will not forget. For the Vashon Vulture lacrosse team in 2023, “next season” can’t come soon enough.

As we close the door on a great lacrosse season, we want to thank the many people who made it possible. The kids, parents, coaches, families, the board members, and the community are what make Vashon Lacrosse so great. Thank you Vashon, from Vashon Lacrosse.
The Vashon Parks Department is sponsoring a new drop-in lacrosse program, open to the public on Wednesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
This program is a continuation of the coed non-contact three vs. three scrimmages that the Lacrosse Club has been running weekly, and consists of short seven-minute games between small teams of players of mixed ages, played with sticks and tennis balls.
If you’re new to the game and interested in seeing what lacrosse is about, or are a current player, coach, or parent and want to keep working on your skills, please join us on Wednesday evenings this summer. Games will usually be held at the high school stadium — check the VPD calendar for the most current information.
Our scrimmages start in June and loaner sticks are available if you need one. Come join the fun.
