VHS golf team ends season, sends two to district playoffs

Vashon High School’s boys’ golf team, under the leadership of new coach Christian Hasson and assistant coaches Neil Jungemann and Cliff Eckman, had 19 enthusiastic golfers show up for the start of the season in March.

The team was made up of freshmen Jake Harrah, Spencer Hartley, Matthew Jones and Jack Zimmerman; sophomores Lars Cain and Ruslan Dahl; juniors Wyatt Kepler, Sam Knight, Luke Larson, Colin Shore, Connor Hoisington and Chase Tucker; and seniors Ezra Alldredge, Langston Dziko, John Kehl, Will Misel, Ethan Sedgemore, Aryeh Stahl and Brady Stinson.

The season produced only one win and some close losses, but gave experience to several players that will provide the nucleus for next year’s team.

Misel, Knight, Kehl, Hoisington, Kepler and Shore participated in the Nisqually League playoffs on May 11 at the Bremerton Gold Mountain Olympic Course for the district title. Misel and Knight went on to play in the district playoffs Tuesday after press time and have a chance at the state tournament in the Tri-Cities.

The team would like to thank the Vashon Golf & Swim Club for providing free access to their course during the three months of golf season.
