Wendy’s Weather’d Wear moves a block south in town

Wendy Rogers, owner of Wendy’s Weather’d Wear, will move her consignment clothing store downtown to the former Beachcomber office space this month.

The old office space will be transformed, with the walls freshly painted cream and blue and new carpeting on the floor. Her husband, Rambo Rogers, will design the store’s interior and build all new racks and shelves. There will be room for three dressing rooms, instead of her current two, and storefront windows she can decorate.

“I am extremely excited,” she said.

The added square feet will also mean additional space to move around in, providing easier access to clothes — and more clothes to choose from.

Rogers has owned her business for nine years at Vashon Village, and while there is a parking lot outside her door, she said she is looking forward to the foot traffic in the heart of town.

“I know I will be busier,” she said.

She speaks from experience. Before opening this store, she worked for seven years at Baby Bear’s, a consignment store where Essentials 4 is now, right next to her new location.

“A slow day there was like a busy day here,” she said at her store in the village.

She will use the month of September to ready the new store, while keeping her old store open. She has not set an opening day yet but will be open there by the end of the month.

Store hours will likely be 10 a.m to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Her phone number will remain the same: 463-1515.

The Beachcomber moved at the end of June to the Windermere building.
