New book describes Vashon through enchanted lens

Vashon author and illustrator Jane Valencia will perform tales from her children’s fantasy and Vashon-inspired book, “Because of the Red Fox,” at 2 p.m. Sunday at Vashon Bookshop. The event is free and open to all ages.

Photography class teams up with land trust

Vashon photographer Ray Pfortner’s annual Shoot to Show class focuses on photography from many angles. Now in its 11th year, Shoot to Show is sponsored by Vashon Allied Arts and begins with four evening sessions plus two field shoots and ends with a juried photography show at The Hardware Store Restaurant on July 3.

Alt-rock band music will fill the Bike

Danny Newcomb, former lead guitarist, songwriter and founder of the Seattle-based alt-rock band Goodness, currently performs his signature guitar solos with his new band The Sugar Makers. Newcomb and The Sugar Makers — featuring Rick Friel on bass, Annie O’Neill on backup vocals and Eric Eagle on drums — will play at 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Red Bike.
