Vashon Events holds annual Hits of the 60s show

Vashon Events will hold its third showcase of local musicians playing the best hits of the 60s at 8 p.m. Friday at the Red Bike.

Allison Shirk and Pete Welch, co-founders of Vashon Events and organizers of the show, chose the concept of music of the 60s because the songs evoke a strong nostalgia for times past in many people. Musicians will either play their song as close to the original as possible or interpret the tune in their own unique style. Either way, “It’s one of those concerts where audiences stop talking and lean into the music, anticipating the next note,” Welch wrote in a recent press release.

Proceeds from the $8 cover will support Vashon Events, the website that brings together island events online, “to build community that is connected, that extends and inspires artists, and that invigorates the hearts and minds of neighbors.”
