Virtuoso cellist plays at VCA

Virtuoso cellist, Efe Baltacigil, will perform with Jessica Choe on piano at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Kay White Hall.

The duo will play works by Schubert, Schumann and Brahms. Principal cello of the Seattle Symphony since 2011, Baltacigil was previously associate principal cello of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Called “a cellist of superb nuances and spontaneous musicality” by The Seattle Times, Baltacigil recently debuted with the Berlin Philharmonic under Sir Simon Rattle and performed Tchaikovsky’s “Rococo Variations” with the Seattle Symphony.

Baltacigil has also performed a Brahms sextet with Itzhak Perlman, Midori, Yo-Yo Ma and Pinchas Zukerman at Carnegie Hall and has toured with Musicians from Marlboro.

Tickets are sold at VCA, Heron’s Nest Gallery and vashoncenterforthearts.org.
