The Metropolitan Opera’s new production of Guiseppe Verdi’s “La Traviata” will be live-streamed at 9:55 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Vashon Theatre.

Eileen Wolcott, owner of the movie theater, called the screening a “fun and sophisticated way to kick off the weekend” that will include champagne, orange juice and a brunch featuring warm items and quiches from local bakeries served at the first intermission. Directed by Michael Mayer, the production features an 18th-century setting that changes with the seasons. Diana Damrau is the doomed heroine Violetta, opposite Juan Diego Flórez as her lover, Alfredo, and Quinn Kelsey as Alfredo’s protective father, Giorgio Germont. Tickets, $20 and $18, can be purchased at the door or online at vashontheatre.com.

Vashon Center for Dance will present the timeless ballet, “The Nutcracker,” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14 and 15, and 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 15 and 16, at Vashon Center for the Arts. Each performance will feature a different dancer in the part of Clara this year, joining a large ensemble ranging in age from adorable small children to accomplished ballet dancers who have trained for many years in the program. Tickets, available in advance at vashoncenterforthearts.org, are $12 to $16 dollars. All tickets at the door cost $20.

Seasonal favorites and vintage jazz will be played at a double-bill concert featuring Sundae + Mr. Goessl and Birch Pereira & The Gin Joints, taking place at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Vashon Center for the Arts.

Get advance tickets ranging in price from $5 to $20 at vashoncenterforthearts.org. All tickets at the door cost $24.
