Joyce Hirman, age 67, of Birch Run, Michigan, passed away suddenly at her home in Norwalk, Connecticut, on January 9th, 2017. Born in Michigan, the daughter of Laurence and Ireva Wolverton, she was a graduate of Michigan State University and an avid Spartan fan.

Raised as a farm girl, she was self-sufficient, reliable, hard working and generous with her time and skills. She was always there for us and we miss her terribly.

Joyce was a proud U.S. Naval Officer, stationed at various bases including Sicily and the Caribbean. Once retired from the Navy she began a career with the K-2 company at their ski manufacturing plant on Vashon Island. She worked her way up to become the senior director of finance at Newell Corporation in Norwalk, CT.

Joyce enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved a good card or board game. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church until relocating for her job with K-2. She is survived by her daughter, Samantha (Hirman) Hinton of Vashon, her ex-husband, Chuck Hirman of Vashon and her extended family in Michigan. Joyce enjoyed traveling with Sam throughout North America and Europe.
