I support the proposal for year-round use of the Vashon Pool. As a taxpayer, I would like to see the parks department prioritize existing facilities that benefit everyone.

The pool would provide healthy options for families, teens and people of all ages. It doesn’t make any sense to me, and many in the community, why the pool is only used three months a year. As I understand it, the purchase and installation of the bubble would be done with private money (thank you, Seals Swim Team) and the operating expenditure for the parks department would be minimal. Everywhere I go on the island, people are talking about this, and it’s clear to me that there is a lot of support and hope out there for this project being approved. During the long winters, we have limited access to activities on the island, and I’m confident that the pool would be fully utilized and worthy of being open all year.
