Raft Up, fundraiser for VYFS, cancelled because of high winds

Kathleen Johnson, executive director at Vashon Youth and Family Services, provided the following statement Sunday morning:

The 2015 Raft Up event is cancelled due to high winds.There is a small craft advisory for Puget Sound, including Quartermaster Harbor, which will last all day. It would be unsafe for us to host the Raft Up attempt, inflate a bouncy house or put up tents!

We worked hard to make this event a success and are very disappointed we could not host the second record-setting attempt. The event was intended to provide funding for the services of Vashon Youth and Family Services. Islanders are asked to visit www.vyfs.org to make a payment to help provide the support, which is still desperately needed.

Many people have supported VYFS through purchase of raffle tickets. We will hold a live drawing on the air with Voice of Vashon’s Morning Scramble, Wednesday, September 23rd. Tune to KVSH 101.9 FM Wednesday at 10 a.m. to find out if you are the winner.
