The Poetry Well is a monthly column that showcases island poetry. This month includes a poem by Louisa Moody.

Strings On Fire

I always fool the dazzled boy

Churning rancid grapes to joy

They laugh

He lies

Ferocious growl decays

Leaking brontide waves

Born as morning grass

I am lost in fake wake

Clash

For her eye drinks warm blushing hearts only

Pursuing the lonely

Look

Make me need

memories retrieved

We are only as dangled and mangled as we

are wild

Bring away porcelain ocean child and make a

naked fever smile

Sister bleeds blue night angels but a brilliant

breeze devours desire

Sitting broken my strings are on fire
