Delilah Pearl and the Mantarays will play music meant to capture the golden rhythm and romance of the 1940s at 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi.
The show, said Pete Welch of Vashon Events, will be a danceable mix of 1940s hepcat jazz, modern soul and R&B, bossa nova, rock, and torch ballads.
The band includes vocalist Delilah Pearl (Christine Goering), Nick Helgeson on drums, Michael Whitmore on guitar, Barry Cooper on coronet, flugelhorn and trumpet and Kevin Nortness on upright bass.
Welch said Goering’s voice is smoky and alluring, evoking divas including Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and “Lady Day.” The free show is for all ages until 11 p.m. and 21 and older after that.
