Songwriter and raconteur Peter Mulvey will perform a concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Vashon Center for the Arts.

Mulvey, who was raised working-class Catholic in Milwaukee, is a well-traveled musician who began his career as a college student busking on the streets of Dublin, Ireland. Since then, he has opened for such stars as Ani DiFranco, Emmylou Harris and Chuck Prophet, appeared on NPR and hosted his own boutique festival, the Lamplighter Sessions, in Boston and Wisconsin.

The concert, presented in partnership with islander Debra Heesch, will showcase Mulvey’s trademark musical blend of poetry, social commentary and humanism.

Islander Kat Eggleston will open the show, and Denver-based singer-songwriter John Statz will sit in with Mulvey for a few numbers.

Advance tickets, $15 to $25, are on sale now at vashoncenterforthearts.org. All tickets at the door cost $25.

CORRECTION: An article in the print edition of our paper listed the wrong date for this concert. The correct date is 7 p.m. Sunday, June 2, not Saturday, June 1. We regret the error.
