Chase Bank on Vashon re-opened on Monday, following a 10-day closure after two of its employees tested positive for COVID-19.

Last week, The Beachcomber published a story about the positive cases, which included a statement from Chase detailing the bank’s COVID-19 policies. These policies included a requirement for Chase employees who have had contact with “confirmed or presumed cases” to quarantine at home for 14 days.

Chase spokesperson Darcy Donahoe-Wilmot told The Beachcomber that Chase was “looking into the matter to ensure that the proper procedures were followed” following the decision made to keep the Vashon branch open and its staff in place after employees learned on Monday, July 27 that one of their colleagues had tested positive for the virus. On Wednesday, July 29, another employee began to experience COVID-19 symptoms and was tested, with a positive result. By Friday, July 31, the bank was closed.

On Aug. 3, The Beachcomber wrote to Donahue-Wilmot, requesting an update on Chase’s investigation into the matter. The Beachcomber also asked if another employee at Chase, who has a mask exemption, would be allowed to continue working with the public. Donahue-Wilmot responded that Chase “would have no further comment on individual employees’ circumstances.”
