Scene & Heard: S’mores and more sweeten family camp

Last weekend marked the second annual S’mores BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of color) Family Camp, at Camp Sealth, where 120 campers gathered for a restorative nature experience that included hiking, pony-petting, skits, games, singing, crafts, a deejayed dance party, and tasty culinary fare that one youth participant said was “to die for.”

The camp, held on May 6 and 7, is the brainchild of islander Chantel Jackson, who is the resident chef at Camp Sealth, a TikTok star and the owner of a Vashon-based catering company, Thyme Well Spent.
